Deal Pirates Treasure Hunt
and Family Fun Day
Saturday 9th. August 2025
Treasure Hunt Maps with pen are being sold for £5 per map/family from 10AM to 12.30PM upstairs in the Hollingworth Hall at the Landmark Centre (there is a lift). Kids will get a free Pirate Hat to wear.
Dressing up as Pirates is encouraged but not essential – there will be plenty of Pirates out and about around Deal and in the Landmark Centre.
You will set off from the Landmark Centre following the route instructions on the map and answering observational clues around the centre of Deal. Your route will return you back to the Landmark Centre where you will be able to check the answers to the clues and get your prize.
There is a longer and shorter route option on the map to suit all families.
There will be loads of fun and games for all the family to enjoy in the Hollingworth Hall.
Pirate Games will include the Corn Hole Game, the Buzzer Game, Splat the Rat, 4 in a Row, the Human Fruit Machine, the Lollipop Treasure Island, the Pillory, the Tombola and the Ship Racing (4 teams racing one another to win a prize)
There will also be Sand Art, a Drawing/Colouring Table and two traditional live Punch and Judy shows to enjoy (we will add timings for these shows when confirmed).
The games will be open from 10AM to 3PM with many of them free.
Raffle Tickets will also be on sale (if we haven’t sold them all in advance) with some amazing prizes – we will add more details as we get our prizes organised.

The raffle draw will take place on the day (after 12.30) and a board will display all winning ticket numbers so you can hopefully collect your prize.

The Story So Far…….
The Landmark Centre in Deal has served our community for years, providing essential spaces for gatherings, classes, and activities. Recently the charity (Deal and Walmer Community Association) faced a critical situation with mounting debts that nearly led to its closure. The new management committee are now working hard to revitalise this historic building, turning it back into a vibrant hub for all of us.
Future Plans
A vision has been developed – as well as a strategy to get there - of a well-run bar and café supporting work spaces and studios for hire, fitness & wellbeing spaces, a programme of community events and exhibitions, classes and activities for all generations. We believe the Landmark Centre can become a well supported, well used, well loved jewel in the centre of the town, providing valuable services to those who need them - as well as a dynamic creative hub that attracts people to the surrounding area.
How It Will Work
We all have the chance to make a meaningful impact by contributing to this crowdfunding appeal. Your support can help fund improvements that will ensure The Landmark remains a cherished community asset for generations to come. This isn't just about saving a building; it's about preserving a place where we can connect, create, and celebrate together.
